YOUR EYESIGHT IS ABSOLUTELY EVERYTHING
Clinical care & attention second to none
Whatever your eyecare needs, at Matthews you’re in the best possible hands.
Your eyesight is one of your most vital senses and our professional optometrists help to ensure you take the best care of it throughout your lifetime.
If you’re finding you can’t see clearly, can’t see well in the distance, have difficulty reading or have poor night vision, your eyes are sore, you’re worried about your family history of glaucoma or macula degeneration, or just if more than two years have passed since your last eye test, you should see our specialists.
If you wear contact lenses, or want too; you’re worried about your progressing short-sightedness; or you’re worried about your child or parents eyes, we can help.
To take the best care of your eyes you should have a full eyecare examination every two years. This helps ensure the future health of your eyes as we we can address any eye health problems before they become serious, and make sure you are seeing as well as you possibly can.
Your examination includes: full assessment of your vision at all distances, a thorough eye health test, measurement of your visual prescription to suit your lifestyle, and a personal eye health strategy based on your unique needs.
You’ll have a consultation with a qualified optician to personally design and fit your eyewear solution, using the latest lens technology and frame fashions. You’ll also receive a preliminary contact lens assessment and free trial.
That’s a whole lot of expertise and reassurance from an examination taking only 45 minutes.
7 IMPORTANT TESTS IN YOUR EYE EXAMINATION
Establishing a total care baseline
Once you’ve undergone a Matthews Full Eye Health Examination, we will have the ultimate baseline for a lifetime of eyesight enjoyment.
The knowledge gained from the seven in-depth tests outlined below allows us to really know your vision, understand your unique specific needs, and monitor any changes over the years.
It’s your complete insurance that you’ll enjoy, and continue to enjoy, the best possible vision.
Using sophisticated Zeiss Humphrey Field Analyser (HFA) technology we assess your peripheral vision – vital to evaluating your neurological ocular health. This test traces the neural pathways from your retina to your brain. This is an important test if you suffer migraines, have had a head injury, have glaucoma, unexplained visual difficulty or many other conditions.
Utilising our Zeiss Cirrus HD-OCT technology we measure and model your eyes microstructure, evaluating and monitoring changes so small that they go unnoticed by any other conventional techniques. High Definition 3D Laser Scanning allows us to investigate many eye conditions, including glaucoma, age related macular degeneration (AMD) and distorted vision.
Using our state-of-the-art Canon EOS digital imaging technology, and a 42 inch display screen, we fully assess your front-of-eye and back-of-eye functionality, enabling us to visually document and monitor your unique eye health.
Viewing your eyes via a stereo biomicroscope allows us to analyse the parts of your eye we can’t normally see, ensuring we fully understand the retinal health of your optic nerve. Highly important in cases of possible glaucoma, or if you’re displaying signs of elevated short sightedness.
Using miniaturised ultrasound technology we accurately measure the thickness of your cornea. This provides us with important eye health information that is invaluable in cases of glaucoma, age-related corneal disease, distorted vision, and post-injury or post-laser surgery.
Similar to Ultrasound Pachymetry, Optical Pachymetry is used when we need to carefully measure specific corneal locations. It provides a detailed assessment of corneal thickness in Keratoconus, and is useful in advanced contact lens fitting.
Utilising Placido Ring technology and state-of-the-art graphical analysis, this test enables us to analyse the shape of your eyes’ optical surface. It is essential in investigating unexplained corneal distortions, ocular surface lesions and eye injuries, and is a vital step in the fitting of contact lenses of complex design, and monitoring the long-term effects of contact lens wear.
